Aubrey’s practice focuses on insurance-related litigation, both in defending and prosecuting actions on behalf of insurers involving contractual and extra-contractual claims in state and federal court. She also regularly represents business clients in litigation arising out of contract disputes. Prior to joining the firm, Aubrey worked as an associate for a large Connecticut based law firm, where she focused her practice on insurance-coverage litigation, commercial litigation and appellate law. She has briefed appeals before the Connecticut Appellate and Connecticut Supreme Court on insurance-related matters. Representative cases include Carford v. Empire Fire and Marine Ins. Co., 94 Conn.App. 41, 891 A.2d 55 (2006) (holding that absent a contractual relationship between the parties or a judgment leading to subrogation, an insurance carrier owes no duty of good faith and fair dealing to a third-party claimant and a third-party claimant has no cause of action under the Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices Act prior to a judicial determination of liability); and American States Ins. Co. v. Allstate Ins. Co., 94 Conn.App. 79, 891 A.2d (2006) (affirming in part trial court’s decision granting plaintiff’s motion for summary judgment and holding that an insurer does not act as a volunteer when undertaking the defense of its insured and therefore has standing to pursue a subrogation action).
