Testimonials
Below are testimonials from our 2007 summer associate class, which will give you a flavor of their experiences working at Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge LLP.
"The summer flew by. I will miss being at the firm, and will especially miss my classmates. Everyone at EAPD – the associates, partners, Managing Partners, recruiting coordinators, and my mentors – answered all of my questions candidly and made me feel comfortable. EAPD allows its summer associates the flexibility to try new projects or focus on a particular practice group. When I represented my first client in a pro-bono unemployment case, I received several hours of guidance and helpful feedback. I also attended two days of an unemployment trial in Springfield, Massachusetts. I cannot wait to come back to Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge."

"The EAPD summer experience was an excellent introduction into the legal profession. Over the course of the summer, I had the opportunity to attend multiple summary judgment and motion to dismiss hearings, a board meeting of a public company, a two-day associate training program in New York City, and various social events within the South Florida professional community. Supervising attorneys gave me the opportunity to become exposed to a variety of practice areas and, later in the summer, allowed me to focus on work in my specific area of interest. I would recommend EAPD to anyone looking to practice law at the top of the profession with talented and interesting people."

"The summer program was a great mix of challenging and varied assignments coupled with fun social events. From bowling with the Managing Partners during orientation to weekly luncheons with the firm’s various practice groups, it was clear that an enormous effort went into ensuring that the summer class felt welcome and that we all had ample opportunity to work on meaningful assignments in the practice areas of our choice. Many partners and associates expressed their willingness to explain their practices and spoke candidly about what life at EAPD is truly like. These efforts on the part of the firm, coupled with the relatively small summer class, made this summer both intellectually challenging and thoroughly enjoyable."

"This was my second summer at EAPD and it was both challenging and enjoyable at the same time. I was able to take on assignments from various departments, including Litigation, Insurance and Reinsurance, and Business Law. Each partner and associate I worked with made it a point to include me in the case or deal every step of the way. The firm also accommodated my wishes to split my summer between its New York City and Boston offices. There was a familiar EAPD feel to both offices, which was unique in that it had a very collegial, small-office atmosphere but was also established enough to take on major deals and cases. This office environment made me come back after my first summer with EAPD, and I feel I was fortunate to have been a part of another amazing summer."

"My experience at EAPD not only provided me with excellent exposure to various practice areas, but also allowed me to understand how my work fit into the firm’s mission. For example, I really enjoyed working on one assignment that involved arbitration proceedings. First, I participated in a conference call leading up to the final arbitration hearing and then I attended the final hearing, which provided me with excellent context for my assignment. After researching the relevant law, it was very satisfying to see portions of my memorandum in the final version of the firm’s Proposed Findings of Fact and Conclusions of Law. When my final arbitration award came down, I truly felt as though I contributed to the firm’s success. At EAPD, I had the opportunity to work on very interesting assignments and actually see the firm use my work."

"At the beginning of the summer, I was unsure of what type of law I wanted to practice. The structure of the summer program allowed me to work on assignments in each of the various departments at the firm, which enabled me to identify what I am most interested in. Socially speaking, the combination of a small class and a variety of fun activities, planned by the very helpful recruiting department, made the summer very enjoyable. Events such as a Red Sox game, a golf outing, sailing trips with partners, softball games and dinner at the home of a Hiring Partner all allowed the summer class to bond not only with each other, but with the firm’s attorneys as well."

"One thing that impressed me about EAPD was how well people actually get along with one another. The attorneys are very collegial, and I found mentors in both upper-level associates and first years. I also found that people here want you to produce the best work possible, but equally as important, they encourage you to grow as an attorney and a person. This summer people urged me to ask a lot of questions and to gain as much experience and exposure as I desired. EAPD is a place where people are encouraged to pursue those things that interest or matter to them. Outside of work, partners and associates are board members, community leaders, athletes, and even musicians in local bands. This is certainly a unique and vibrant place to work."
