London, UK - The global law firm of Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge (EAPD) is pleased to announce that Francis Mackie, a leading lawyer in the London insurance market, has joined EAPD as partner in the firm’s London office. Mackie joins the firm on the same day EAPD opens the door to their new London office at Dashwood. The firm’s London office was previously located on Fetter Lane.

Mackie is a highly respected lawyer who advises both London market clients (syndicates and companies), as well as a number of international insurance clients. His practice is comprised predominantly of contentious/dispute work involving arbitration, Commercial Court proceedings and mediation. Many of his arbitration proceedings are in "market" disputes, usually for reinsurers, and consist of coverage disputes, construction issues, and recision/cancellation issues, etc., in such areas as aviation, marine reinsurance, commercial, property, financial lines/D&O, PR/CF, contingency risks and energy risks/disputes. His client base covers Europe, the USA, the Far East and the Middle East.
Mackie was previously a partner with Dewey & LeBoeuf in London. Legal 500 describes him as "completely unflappable" whilst Chambers UK has referred to him as "a highly skilled litigator" with "a huge amount of insight and understanding of the insurance field".
This is the sixth hire for EAPD’s Insurance and Reinsurance Department in a very short period of time. Eric Hermanson recently joined the firm as counsel in Boston, and four associates have recently joined the group in Boston and New York.
