At EAPD, we work hard to be a ‘green’ law firm, and are focused on protecting the environment. Being green has become a distinguishing aspect of our organizational culture. As a law firm, it is our job to protect our clients and look out for their best interests. We feel it’s only natural that we do the same for the environment.
We’re not afraid to pat ourselves on the back for our green initiatives, but we’re thrilled when others do it for us. In January 2010, EAPD received Silver LEED™ (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) CI 2.0 Certification from the United States Green Building Council for the Firm’s office in Hartford, CT. Fewer than 10 legal interior architecture projects nationwide have received this certification. LEED Certification is achieved by earning points through the incorporation of sustainable materials, green construction methods and advanced energy/resource management systems into the building of new space. EAPD was also the recipient of the 2009 Conservation Award presented at the Hartford Business Journal Connecticut Business Energy Summit.
EAPD is focused on reducing our carbon footprint throughout the Firm. Environmentally friendly features and products found in many of our offices include:
- recycled paper, from stationary to copy paper
- low electricity consuming appliances and equipment
- racks to assist and encourage bicycle commuting
- daylight sensors in perimeter offices to modulate lighting needs
- minimization and separation of waste for recycling
In addition to that above, our LEED certified Hartford office also features:
- waterless urinals, low flow faucets and dual flush toilets
- end grain bamboo flooring
- bamboo plywood wall paneling and furniture
- recycled glass wall panels
- millwork substrates made from wheat and recycled paper
- countertops made from recycled concrete and glass
- water based adhesives, paints and coatings
