Tim is Co-chair of the firm's Labor and Employment Group. He and his colleagues at Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge LLP are absolutely committed to protecting an employer’s right to run its business freely, within the law.  With both the rise in the number of employment claims and the amounts of jury verdicts, Tim prefers to keep his clients out of trouble by having them follow a comprehensive program of rigorous training, full faith compliance, strict recordkeeping and vigorous enforcement to improve morale and boost workplace productivity.

Tim’s clients include Fortune 100 companies with a national presence, as well as start-up enterprises in only one or two locations.  When his clients have been sued, Tim has been there for them. Named a Massachusetts "Super Lawyer" in the area of Labor & Employment for three years and recognized in the Super Lawyers Corporate Counsel Edition in the area of Employment & Labor, Tim routinely tries cases in both state and federal courts throughout the country and has successfully defended his clients against virtually every conceivable type of employment claim that exists.  Tim has also successfully resolved a number of wage and hour collective/class actions on behalf of his clients.  Tim regularly counsels telecommunications companies, financial institutions, insurers, retailers, manufacturers, and construction companies, among others.  Besides defending his clients against employment related claims, Tim also advises employers on the entire spectrum of employment issues, including sexual harassment investigations, employment counseling and terminations, retaliation claims, FLSA, FMLA and ADA issues, and reductions in force.

Notable Experience
  • Tim successfully defended a company through trial and appeal of sexual harassment claim, where First Circuit, in published opinion, commented on Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge LLP's “skillful defense.”

  • Tim successfully obtained complete summary judgment, in an arbitration before JAMS, for medical group against former physician/employee claiming, among other things, breach of employment agreement and breach of fiduciary duty.

  • He successfully obtained complete summary judgment for Fortune 100 client against former employee claiming sexual harassment and sex discrimination.

  • He successfully dismissed a whistleblower claim against a national chemical company.

  • Tim successfully dismissed RICO and common law related claims against a corporation and its officers by a former union steward claiming constructive discharge due to union activities.  The judgment was affirmed by the First Circuit, marking the first time the First Circuit had addressed the issue of NLRB preemption.

  • He obtained a complete defense award, including damages in favor of the employer, plus all attorneys’ fees, in a two week arbitration, in which former employee sought $5 million for breach of contract and fraud under a separation agreement.

  • Tim has successfully defended a myriad of sexual harassment and discrimination claims brought against Fortune 500 companies, including claims that have gone to full trial and hearing before various state agencies.

Besides Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge
Lawyer by day and countertenor by night, Tim, along with his son, sings in a professional Men & Boys Choir.  His favorite composers include Tallis, Byrd and Palistrina.  When not working or singing, Tim and his family can be seen heading up to Nova Scotia where they enjoy sailing, fishing, and swimming.  Tim is also quite fond of rowing his 17’ wooden Swamscott dory.

The hiring of a lawyer is an important decision that should not be based solely on advertisements. Prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome.
